Tush
Biografía
Powered by Kamilah Apong and Jamie Kidd, Tush is a Toronto band that has rapidly gained a reputation as one of the city’s best live acts. More grit than glam, their music searches for the rawness, vulnerability, and intimacy of the dancefloor experience.
As a bassist, DJ, producer, and co-founder of acclaimed party collective Box of Kittens, Kidd has made his mark on the scene in both Toronto and Berlin. Apong, an esteemed vocalist and cultural producer, spent her formative years in the band Unbuttoned and running the community project Hummingbird - a platform for young marginalized artists. While answering to an ad for a live rare groove project, the two met, and developed a fruitful creative partnership.
Fusing their love for house, disco, and soul music, their debut EP, do you feel excited? (2018, Do Right Music), has captured the attention of the global underground dance community. Most recently, the renowned house producer Osunlade blessed them with a remix treatment of their epic ‘Oh My’.
Building their following by playing at warehouse jams, Tush often perform as a 7-piece. Their high-energy live set has captured hearts and minds on some of the top festival stages in their home city, such as the Toronto Jazz Festival, Pride Toronto, Beaches Jazz Festival, and Toronto International Film Festival, and have shared the stage with acclaimed live acts including The Souljazz Orchestra and Tortured Soul.
