Tones
Biografía
Tones progression through the Australian scene has been long and involved; playing in almost every major up and coming capacity available. This has seen him feature heavily on Triple J, ITM-FM and the ever popular Proton radio; appearing with the likes of Danny Howells, James Zabiela and Anthony Pappa on .Audio; as well as the best new talent in the world on the always amazing San Francisco Sessions.
This exposure has secured him a highly sought after residency at Sydney’s most exciting club night Musica; where his sets have received high praise from punters and Djs alike. Adding to these regular appearances are guest spots at Sweetchilli, Chinese Laundry (voted best club for 2006) and also a slot at the unforgettable 2006 Future Music Festival; appearing at the latter as the "Future Dj Competition" winner. These gigs have seen him share the bill with the likes of Erick Morillo, Armin Van Burren, Lee Burridge, Omid 16b, David Guetta, Rowan Blades, Steve Angello, Sebastien Leger, Pole Folder, Dj Three, D-Nox, Chris Lake and The 16 bit Lolita’s over what’s been a busy 18 months.
On the production front, co-productions (with brother Max Plowman) have seen support from Hernan Cattaneo and John Digweed leading to “Dark Clouds Over Oslo”, their first, highly successful release as “Aural Seduction”, being championed by Stigma Recordings. New releases are in the making…
Tones passion for music doesn’t stop there. At the beginning of 2006, he launched his own touring agency – TigerStyle (www.myspace.com/tigerstyleagency). TigerStyle books some of the world’s freshest talent with the biggest and best clubs and promoters in the Asia – Pacific region and beyond. He has booked the first ever Australian gigs for Chris Lake, Sebastien Leger, Duoteque, 16 bit Lolitas and Pole Folder. 2007 is set to be even better, with TigerStyle expanding into the ever growing South American market.
A recent trip to Brazil was not spent just talking. Tones played 5 gigs across the country taking in NYE in front of 6000 people in Brasilia and playing the infamous DEdge in Sao Paulo just one week after Richie Hawtin. Gigs in Brasil, Argentina and Uruguay are penciled for the end of 2007.
This overseas exposure led to a set on “Mix – Up”. Simply put - Australia’s most highly regarded nationwide radio show.
The dedication to his art is evident in every set; each paced, structured and with a purpose. Always searching for new and unique sounds, his rich tapestry of grinding beats, spacey techno and mechanical bliss is subtly transformed into one sculptured mish-mash of deep grooves and contagious energy. An evocative description...
A sound lived and breathed by Tones.
