Tomgirl504Ever
Biografía
TOMGIRL504EVER, has spent most of her life raising hell in her hometown New Orleans, Louisiana.“My original angst came from going to an all-girls private school in Uptown New Orleans. We were meant to be kept in order, to appear really put-together. And then I was the only black girl in a lot of white spaces, and I just hated how differently I was treated.” So she began experimenting with Hyperpop and Emo, cutting her teeth on acts like Rina Sawayama, FKA Twigs, and $uicideboy$. “Instead of taking up less space it made me want to be even more obnoxious and daring and chaotic with my appearance and music.”
Her musical journey has been decades in the making. The daughter of a Grammy Award-winning Jazz musician and a well revered artist manager, her influences are far-reaching. While her origins in music revolve around first-rate jazz and classical, her coming-of-age evolution can be attributed to an infatuation with [cyber, pop, punk, etc.]. Wherever she’s found herself, that angst followed. She attended Berklee College of Music, picking up guitar and electronic production before transgressing her prior “jazz identity”. Her migration to New York has enabled her to embark on a whole new development of blended sounds.
Needless to say, her sound has always been surprising to her peers. Across her upcoming debut, TOMGIRL504EVER reveals a dazzling amalgamation of influences, navigating trap, hyperpop, and rock with an execution that makes these disparate genres feel like they have always gone together.
