Born on Detroit’s Eastside, Weston was reared on a musical diet that included classic Motown and obscure jazz. At 16, the beat of the electronic sound captured his ear and a trip to St. Andrew’s exposed him to techno and house. In 1999, Weston began collecting records. His mentor, Waxmaster D Smooth, guided him in his new quest. He spent many nights in the basement honing his craft, with D Smooth and the “7 Mile Crew” lending tips and technique. Other influences, including Theo Parrish, Terrence Parker and Mike Huckaby, inspired Weston to set his DJ bar higher. His ongoing mission to perfect his craft began paying off. He was instrumental in creating the Deep Heat Wednesdays event series in 2000 which was a Detroit mainstay for many years. He also began DJing in other parts of the country, expanding the Detroit sound, and formed his own production company, Deep Heat Detroit in 2001. Currently, Todd is entering into the fifth year of his latest Detroit project, dubbed "Hot Pot", along with fellow Detroit DJ and producer, David A-P (Guy LaFleur). Deep Detroit house, rare groove, and disco classics are among many of the sounds which have attracted artists from across the globe to stop through to perform guest sets, with close attention paid to keeping the dance floor packed.
