Since the first days of Trier’s long standing and self-administered club for electronic music villaWuller, Tobi Maletzke has honed his craft as one of the few regulars behind the decks with a slightly different taste and musical approach. As a passionate music afficionado and record collector he has developed a strong emphasis on industrial driven, abstract and experimental sounds, with a penchant for functional electronic music somewhere between (straight forward) Techno, House and the so called hardcore continuum. In the light of this rather broad range of electronic music, Tobi Maletzke has gained a proclivity for playing the first hours (some people might call it warmUp), where he’s able to challenge established listening habits as well as to take responsibility for building a sensitive yet rock-solid fundament for the upcoming DJ. Furthermore Tobi Maletzke’ s still one of the driving forces behind the curtain. His strict policy in terms of programming, booking producers and DJs (sometimes well-known, sometimes exceptional musicians under the radar) has helped to maintain a vital spot for electronic music in a small city that’s, not just from a subcultural point of view, sometimes damn hard to take.
