Throe is the moniker of D.C. area based DJ Peter Kaufmann. A longtime dance music aficionado, he’s been spinning in clubs and hidden haunts across the country for over a decade, and has been involved in the scene more generally as a promoter and booker for the past few. With a seemingly limitless passion for sourcing quality tunes that ignore the boundaries of genre, era, or place, his sets are riddled with oddball obscurities, forgotten gems, and cutting edge floor-fillers alike. He’s a regular at globally recognized venues like Flash nightclub in D.C., where he is a resident DJ, U Street Music hall, and Eighteenth Street Lounge, and he’s supported a diverse array of respected talents that includes Carl Craig, Petre Inspirescu, Daniel Bell, Secretsundaze, Maayan Nidam, Honey Soundsystem, Leon Vynehall, and many, many more. He’s also the co-founder of the Arts & Sciences series alongside fellow D.C. based digger and DJ Taiga, bringing selectors and envelope-pushing tastemakers to the nation’s capital like Gene on Earth, Snad, and Wex Records honchos Anderson & Marco Wex.
