Tam Lin acts as a reflection of our social media age, in which ‘real’ selves overlap uncomfortably with digital appearances. They morphs between hypersmooth tech aesthetics, the digital degradation of overshared content, and the clumsy, physical reality of our IRL existences. While expressing the inherent anxiety of this split existence, Tam Lin also act as a guide, stepping between the contradictory planes of this networked life, morphing to the required shape: distant and refined, or bristling with monstrous energy. Their vocals switch between soft, domestic croaks and murmurs remiscent of Tricky, and agitated, tense sputters and growls inspired by the likes of electro punk pioneers Suicide and industrial hip hop giants Saul Williams and Death Grips.
