Spending years playing shows as an indie-dance band, Jacob and James have since shifted their focus to the DAW and the club. In their productions and DJ sets, they strive to maintain the organic elements of their live show, which continues to connect them with audiences. Jacob and James met during the pandemic and formed an instant musical connection playing shows around NYC. Both multi-instrumentalists, new musical ideas flow freely. Dance beats and slick grooves glossed over lyrics that invoked trauma and pain; their songs might have made you cry or dance, but hopefully both. Jacob and James took this same approach when shifting to electronic production and DJ sets. Fusing punk, house, and funk elements with indie rock songwriting sensibilities and hooks, Talk Shivi are stoked to bring their new releases to clubs and stages. Their DJ sets are always fresh, keeping audiences on their toes, whether for an hour set or a marathon. In August 2023, Talk Shivi also started the Party Right Here event series, one of the first DIY raves to take place in their home turf of Astoria, Queens. Party Right Here, Vol. 6 (Halloween Edit) is slated for October 25th, 2024. Talk Shivi are also stoked to release their first official remix of Lolux's "Happy," on November 4th, 2024.
