Nico Cabañas, a.k.a SYNTHS VERSUS ME, could be surely considered a pioneer of the electronic alternative scene in north-west of Spain, buying vinyl records and playing as DJ since 1989. Back in 1995, he’ve opened his first records and clubbing clothing store, ELEKTRO ILLUSION, combining it with DJ residences at several iconic clubs in the north of Catalonia. In 2014, along with his wife Vanessa (R.I.P), they started their own musical band project under SYNTHS VERSUS ME alias, achieving an instant international success and being the founding motivation of ORACULO RECORDS, widely considered as one of the world’s most influential vinyl labels about darkwave, synthwave, post-punk and ebm, with over 120 releases extremely desired by vinyl collectors. As SYNTHS VERSUS ME he have released 4 albums and 5 EP’s and he have collaborated and co-released/remixed/versioned material with artists such as BOY HARSHER, THE NEON JUDGEMENT, ABSOLUTE BODY CONTROL, DAYS OF SORROW, BLIND DELON, WIND ATLAS or GARY NUMAN, to mention a few. As DJ He have shared line-ups with relevant acts such as NITZER EBB or FRONT 242. In 2018, with his partner Raul Gayo, he’ve founded OMBRA FESTIVAL, widely reknown for its outstanding dark electronic shows.
