Stu has been at the forefront of the dance music scene for nearly 10 years, learning his dj skills in his bedroom before moving to Bristol in 2000, he learned his promotional skills working for OutOfHand magazine before starting Empathy at Bar Latino, weekly Thursday night for 4years bringing an array of djs from all over the world, this event pushed prog to the full, often working with Bristol based Hope recordings, bringing Timo Maas, Adam Freeland, Locodice and Nick Warren to the party, Empathy was growing in popularity and in line so did Stuart's dj skills, improving to become one of the most popular djs in Bristol, although most of his gigs were in Europe as the interest in uk djs was at its peak. Empathy held a monthly residency at Industry55 for over a year, plus gigs in Turkey, Ibiza, Poland, Austria, N Ireland, Portugal, Cardiff and Birmingham, highlight's being his association with Creamfields in Prague, playing 3 warm up parties, live on Europa2 Radio, the Creamfields festival itself and in 2009 playing in the West Dance tent at Glastonbury, Ministry of Sound's 18th Birthday alongside Sasha in 2008 and Bedrock in London with John Digweed in 2007. In 2005 stuart moved Empathy to Timbuk2 in Bristol, putting on big names including Paolo Mojo, Hybrid, Guy Gerber, Lee Burridge, James Zabiela, Pete Heller, Dave Seaman, Meat Katie, with Stuart in support, pushing great underground music, from ambient beats to tech house to driving techno, he loves nothing better than playing to a dark groovy club playing hypnotic techy beats. In 2007 Stuart's residency at Empathy was taken to a higher level when it moved to the 600 capacity Blue Mountain, celebrating its 6th Birthday with James Holden, Hybrid and Kriece, Empathy and Hope Christmas party, One + One with Zabiela and Fanciulli, 4hrs of Danny Howells, this was a great time for Stuart. More recently his monthly residency at Digital has really been a special time, playing for up 5 hours till the very early hours playing alongside some great artists such as Anil Chawla, Milton Jackson, Kos, James Talk and Facundo Mohrr. While pushing his own dj career, he has always been on the look out for great new artists, bringing many from abroad as in Jondi & Spesh from San Francisco, and The Flash Brothers from Israel. He was fortunate to have spotted a very young Jim Rivers in 2003 since then he has become a fellow resident for Empathy and is now a global superstar. Stu is also very involved with local charities and event's, promoting the multi promoter charity event Unity' raising money for The Basement Project and the Bristol Festival as well as programming the event. Stuart is now looking forward to the Empathy 10th Birthday in 2011 while its monthly slot at Dojo in Bristol and pushing his sound to the next level, especially his interest in ambient and downtempo beats.
