Stephany Medina is a DJ based in Nasvhille, TN. She got her hands on her first pair of turntables in 2018 and hasn’t looked back. She lived in New Orleans from 2012-2017, and her connection to music deepened as she was influenced by the sounds of live brass, jazz, funk, soul, R&B, and the many pockets of music the city had to offer. When she moved back to her hometown of Nashville, she discovered local dance parties like Funky Good Time that revived her spirit after leaving New Orleans. Since then she has had memorable experiences on the dance floor in cities like New York, Chicago, and Memphis that have all inspired her eclectic sound as a DJ. She believes music is a reflection of the connection you have with yourself and the energetic exchange that occurs between people, especially on the dance floor. Now, she loves adding to her growing record collection and creating mixes that tell a story. Her thoughtful selections explore the intersection of a wide range of genres including jazz, funk, disco, soul, Latin, and house. With a diverse sound and joyful spirit, her sets are inspired by her desire to connect with people and are bound to make you move. Stephany has played at various venues throughout Nashville, Memphis, Brooklyn, and New Orleans. She founded a Latin summer series called Esencial, and has recently joined the rotation of DJs at Funky Good Time — the beloved all vinyl dance party established in 2007.
