Raised in the Greater Toronto Area by 90s' ravers, Stella Maise (FKA Ms. GothicFish) was deep into the alternative dance music scene from the get-go. Her mother influenced her taste in Drum & Bass, Jungle, Dubstep, Electro, and also rock genres such as grunge and metal. In her teens, Estella got more independently involved in the local hardcore punk and underground music scene of Toronto, where she'd discover her love for moshpits and manic crowds. As Stella got older, she became more attracted to 2 polar opposite styles: Goth and Happy Hardcore, this broadened her taste and gave way to Stella's distinctiveness for ambitious mixing and genre-bending crossovers. All this collectively has formed an extremely widespread collection of sound that remains unique, inspiring, and decadently open-minded. Her sound is heavily curated individually for each event she plays, leaving room for surprises & deep cuts. Stella has made quick waves, with residencies at clubs and multiple Toronto rave organizations, such as Supersexe, NB_DnB, Desire, Shadowplay. Adding to her portfolio, she's played sold-out shows in Montreal and Toronto, notably spinning at NOMAD, the iconic Opera House, Wiggle Room, SeeScape, McCormack Warehouse. Additionally she's played New York multiple times, and recently made her west coast debut in British Columbia at Altitude Music Festival. Highly sought after, within multiple underground alternative scenes, Stella played over 80 billed DJ sets in 2024 ALONE. She is revered as a serious contender and rising artist to watch in the upcoming years. Stella runs her own events production companies as well, Estella Originals and Pure Camp, which specialize in the curation of dance events and markets catered to a diverse audience of alternative local youth. On top of all this, Stella serves as the current Chair for the Electronic Album of the Year Award at the Canadian JUNO Awards, additionally already serving as committee/Co-Chair for over 2 years. Not too bad for a young blood like herself.
