Brought up attending festivals from 6 months old and loading sound systems into venues from age 15, Somatic has been immersed in late-night dancing culture from an early age. Initially training as a percussionist, Somatic's sound is led by rhythm. Cross-pollinating in his sets is unavoidable, from Afrobeat blended with Breaks, Reggaeton Souk refixes, Dabke layered with Garage, Bassline Bollywood, Jungle & Baile Funk crossovers, and much more, Somatic is part of a generation of DJ’s who don’t see the boundaries of genres. He’s most well known for his Jungle tune “Fighting Fear” (850k+ plays) his open style has taken him to festivals like Glastonbury (on Banksy’s alleged Terminal 1 stage, Dialled In’s Arrivals stage, and Bobby Friction’s Azaadi stage), Boomtown, Shambala, headlining stages at socially and culturally conscious Landskills Fair and Buddhafield, at clubs in Indian cities Bangalore & Mumba. He also works as one of Mr Scruff's Sound Engineers, is part of the Daytimers collective, creates sound for dance, theatre and screen, including in immersive formats such d&B soundscape & L’acoustics L-ISA and runs his own sound system. He holds down a monthly residency on Subtle Radio and has cultivated an avid following for his sell-out event series - “Dance Against Racism” that he runs with his mum in Exeter.
