Biografía
In their pursuit of creating amoebic, ephemeral, and Queer experiences, Lavy enjoys crafting sound that emanates in the body as a scape for unlimited potential, sensuality, sweat, and connectivity.
Like unpacking a puzzle, only to rebuild it time and time again, their sound utilizes melodic propulsion and rhythmic dissonance to journey the experiencer through a process of deconstructing /-/ re-constructing.
As a choreographer, producer and director, they founded VERBAL ANIMAL - a cohort of Queer dancers, sound designers, videographers, costume designers, and photographers with a mission to create a body of accessible Queer work. Since its founding in 2021, the company has performed at the 14th St Y, WAXworks, TADA! Theater, 3 Dollar Bill, Laguardia Performing Arts Center, and Triskelion Arts. Through a necessity to amplify emerging Queer choreographers in New York City, the company curates QUEER NOISE - a festival style platform for experimental, multi-disciplinary, and process-centered work. Additionally, VERBAL ANIMAL engages in an effort to emphasize environmental sustainability by choreographing Reworked Runway - an eco-conscious fashion show in which emerging fashion designers create original looks from refurbished/found materials. As a producer, Lavy created PLAY ME TECHNO AND TELL ME IM PRETTY - a party focused on connectivity, sweat, performance, and sonic dissonance. They also produce KISS MY FACE, a variety dance show meets opera house meets Basement NY.
