Skalator
Biografía
His interest for music grew on him since he was a kid, largely influenced by the collection of vinyl and tapes from his father.
Although having no musical training on any specific instrument, over the years, he discovered that he had a strong connection with beat and rhythm on the music he was listening at the time.
The fact that he was musically influenced by some of his family members who lived the music intensely, made him want to open his sonic horizons and start
the quest for the discovery of new music trends in the late 90´s...
He began to deepen his musical knowledge through Downtempo, Trip-Hop and Acid Jazz . The music scene in Lisbon in the year 2000 (Thanks LUX Fragil!) made him lucky enough to see live bands and DJs who would later be influential on the way he produces music nowadays.
Names like Jazzanova, Trüby Trio, Fabio & Grooverider, LTJ Bukem, Calibre, Gilles Peterson, Thievery Corporation, Kruder & Dorfmeister, Sofa Surfers and Omni Trio are his main musical references and good examples of this type of sound which naturally have a strong impact on his productions..
Studied Music Production at the University of Brighton and lived in the UK for 5 years. Since then, he is dedicated to continuous learning and exploration of various forms of musical production using the expertise he has acquired over the years and always trying to explore sound environments that surround him, combined with harmonious melodies and strong basslines.
His core concept is and will always be to provide a sonic journey to the listener, with a special focus on quality, originality and soul.
In 2014, he created his own imprint called Skalator Music with the aim of releasing his productions and promoting his work and of other like minded artists.
More recently, Skalator has collaborated with national and international producers from the bass music scene via monthly radio shows (Decadance and Vault) and a labe night called Subsonic Sessions,
