Enter Hugo Hollis: a 28 year old music producer and ex-Bristolian who swapped the seaport for the shale, now currently residing in Brighton. He has had quite the colourful childhood, living in various countries through his adolescence and experienced a number of different cultures and environments, including Brunei, New York and Paris. The exposure to these different traditions of art, music, food & language definitely informed his development both as a musician and as an individual as he grew up. Whilst studying mechanical engineering at the University of Bristol, he co-founded a drum & bass events brand Redland Tea Party with good friend & fellow DJ, Loz. He then moved to London and worked in software development for a few years before realising where his true passions lie. This disillusionment was not fruitless though, as he quickly picked up a copy of Ableton Live in 2017 and began to stretch his legs creatively. He first arrived on the Soulvent scene with his track ‘Strange Matter’ which opens with cascading, shimmering chimes and a slight air of unease. The drop kicks like a mule, boasting roaring grunts of bass, high velocity drums; all of which are sure to evoke some downright evil expressions in the rave! 2021 certainly looks bright for this beach bum, with music also lined up for release later this year on French label Hyperactivity Music, and Break’s legendary Symmetry Recordings.
