SHXCXCHCXSH
Biografía
The once industrial city of Norrköping in eastern Sweden may not be the techno mecca of the world but it's a hometown of two members of SHXCXCHCXSH, who considers it a perfect place to focus on music. Found each other in Stockholm years back, the two started sharing love for the darker and more experimental realms of techno and soon followed the natural progression of working on music together. Combinedly they have a broad range of musical backgrounds and tastes from hip hop to indie therefore bring diverse knowledge and experience to shape their unique sounds and ideas into deadly serious techno born out of the elements of noise, drone, glitch, broken beats, and pounding industrial and much more.
After releasing on Semantica and Subsist, SHXCXCHCXSH found a home in Avian, a thought-after label of contemporary techno. Following the series of EPs that captured the curiosity and attention of techno world, came in June 2013 was “STRGTHS”, their debut album that successfully etched their unpronounceable name onto the audiences’ minds. In 2014 the duo unveiled their second full-length album "Linear S Decoded” that showed an entirely different side of SHXCXCHCXSH by perfecting the intricate balance between light and and dark and further expanding the breadth and depth of their world with incredible complexity and sensibility without compromising the powerful mind-blowing techno that truly stands out from the crowd.
In 2016 the duo released “SsSsSsSsSsSsSsSsSsSsSsSsSsSsSs," their 3rd full-length album composed with the soundscape and atmosphere that meant to provide a deeper level of sonic connection , which was partially inspired by SHXCXCHCXSH’s new A/V project with Pedro Maia. Their statement is described as 'an unbound, rolling matrix of white noise & wrought iron percussion, replete with disembodied choirs that pan uncomfortably in and out of the sonic hinterland.’
2017 they opened their own imprint, Rösten where they released music by Stanislav Tolkachev, Sissel Wincent and SSTROM, as well as their own, including two albums. On OUFOUFOF, 2018 the Swedish pair skillfully swarm around techno’s 4/4 framework without ever landing on a rote kick/hi-hat pattern in all eight tracks. They plough a singular path thru angular, stop-start loops and harsh textures with a cool tolerance for the kind of psychotomimetic repetitions that may drive some minds to despair, and others to utter wildstyle ecstasy. weave stuttering vocals into their frazzled matrix. Following suit with OUFOUFOF, they spat out seven gobs of spirit-gnawing rhythmic noise flecked with sawn-off syllables and all manner of possessed moans on AÅÄ, 2019.
Following on from 2018’s SHULULULU EP, the duo are back channeling their sound-design focused experimentalism into a brace of characteristically high energy recordings with the album Kongestion on Avian. Melding contemporary explorations in rhythm and texture with more traditional club tropes, Kongestion places recognizable leitmotif’s from the dance music continuum in the context of the pair’s inimitable production prowess.
