【Shoma fr, dambosound】Selector / DJ / Producer Formed in Tokyo in 2014, dambosound is a reggae sound system that has operated as the solo project of Shoma (MC / Selector) since its inception. In May of the same year, he appeared at “Sound City,” hosted by Mighty Crown, in the underage category Young Bloods, quickly drawing attention. The following June, he made a surprise appearance at SUNSET’s “Fuji Reggae Festival,” generating significant buzz. While continuing his regular events, he went on to perform at numerous parties and festivals. From 2016, he traveled alone to Osaka for four consecutive years to train, gaining extensive experience on the ground and developing his musical career. In 2017, his Bruno Mars Mix on Mixcloud reached No. 2 on the global trending charts. The following year, 2018, he released his first mix CDs, CHILL MIX and ALL BOB MARLEY MIX, simultaneously. In 2019, he held his first self-produced event, Still Holiday Vol.1, achieving great success. In 2020, he joined the label Grand Avenue Records. That April, he participated in RYO the SKYWALKER’s remote remix project #CoronaRemix, producing and releasing three tracks—including mashups—in only two days. The speed and quality of his work quickly became a talking point. In 2022, he founded the creative collective 5Windows Freak, spanning music, art, and fashion. Expanding his activities beyond music, he also directs apparel, events, and video production. In June 2023, the 5Windows Freak release The Parents Forbid Their Children From Watching Violent Movies. surpassed 800,000 total streams. In July, he hosted Harvest Mooon at Music Bar Lion, and continued to appear at collaborations with YAGI EXHIBITION, the Shibuya PARCO 50th-anniversary event, and the Shibuya WWW / WWW X countdown event WWW NEW YEAR PARTY. In 2024, dambosound celebrated its 10th anniversary. To commemorate this milestone, he launched the bi-monthly regular event Command + at Shibuya ENTER, inviting guests such as Cojie (Scorcher Hi Fi), DJ MURO, and DJ KENTARO—garnering major attention. In March, he performed at 100 Years Later Music Festival, organized by producer Takeshi Kobayashi; in June, at JAMAICA FESTIVAL 2024 in Yoyogi Park; and in August, at SUMMER “BASS” JAM 2024 at Shibuya O-EAST / MIDNIGHT EAST, among other major domestic festivals. In addition, he performs at parties hosted by Japanese and international fashion brands including DIESEL, Leh, and madhappy. He serves as Director / Back DJ for BYORA’s tour The Screw Tapes Tour, holds the 5Windows Freak POP-UP event THE MARKET at Manhattan Records, and frequently appears as a music selector at BLUE NOTE PLACE in Ebisu. He has also performed at events hosted by the Embassy of Jamaica in Japan. With a genreless style, he continues to perform at parties and venues across the country.
