Shaw Cain a.k.a Black Popstar has been carving a lane of her own. Shaw Cain combines the influences of her Detroit roots with 2000s pop, hip hop, and techno layered with soulfully rich vocals. The result is a refreshing sound that embodies the edginess of the club scene and feels runway-ready for lovers of pop and dance music. Shaw Cain has evolved herself and her sound following the release of their debut EP, Black Popstar, and after a spree of performances around the United States and the opportunity to perform alongside Grammy award-winning artist Big Freedia on her “Big Diva Energy” tour, she made the move to Berlin. Inspired by the cultural connection between the two cities she decided to continue with her pop stardom there. As Shaw Cain prepares for a season of new releases she has spent her time performing, DJing, and collaborating with other artists. Shaw Cain's goal has remained the same and she seeks to reclaim space in pop culture and media that has written queer and trans people of color out for too long.
