Biografía

Scott Tillett is one half of the Los Angeles underground staple We Own the Night (WOTN). An LA native, Scott's musical taste has always been driven by his early love for underground hip hop. That interest followed him throughout the 90s Los Angeles rave scene. His friendship with Scott K (WOTN, Get Physical) and Zernell (Grimy) set him on the path of Djing and production. Heavily influenced by Chicago, Scott's sound spans from jacking house and dirty disco to post punk, electro, and acid. Recently, Scott has been in the studio working on acid and electro tracks with Scott K and composer/producer/sound artist, Brad Apodaca (Dol Ikara, The Sea At Midnight, Black Line). Scott Tillett started We Own the Night with Scott K circa 2011. The concept was simple: real LA underground house, disco, acid, techno, live music, art, food, and no bullshit. Prior to WOTN, Scott helped with production and management for the Los Angeles underground phenom, Nitty Gritty, with Scott K and DJ Kerry (Basement LA). He carried that production sense over to WOTN where he helps to curate both the musical and experiential vibe. In an effort to keep it underground and expand people's minds, WOTN does not disclose guest DJ info. Sometimes it's just Scott K and Scott Tillett, but throughout the years surprise guests have included selectors from the best house labels on the planet, including: Defected, Dirtybird, Insomniac, Soul Clap, DFA, Desert Hearts, Optimo, Glitterbox, Hot Creations, Crosstown Rebels, Beats in Space, MAW, Ovum, Running Back, TRAX, Delusions of Grandeur, Sonar Kollektiv, BBE, Snatch!, Classic Music Company, Kitsune, Repopulate Mars, AfroAcid, Nervous, Toy Tonics, Faze Action, Midnight Riot, Quantize, Warp, Ghostly International, Cajual, Compost, Yoruba, Strictly Rhythm, Salsoul, Mule Musiq, Glasgow Underground, Fool's Gold, Toolroom, Rong, Z Records, & more. It's a real omakase experience, but trust us, you're in good hands. A labor of love, these hands-on events have traditionally only gone down every 2-3 months. Lately, Scott K and Scott Tillett have been working on shortening the interval between events with smaller, limited capacity shows under the moniker Night Light.
