Biografía

Born and raised in Glasgow, now based in London, part of the electronic music and club community as a dancer, music fan, club promoter, DJ and recording artist for over 30 years. First and foremost a club DJ, Scott has used his 30+year love of music and experience to cut across genres with energy and a genuine love and empathy with people on the dancefloor. Musically his sets usually heavily lean towards US house, the deeper side of disco, electro and Detroit house and techno, which have been a constant though a lifetime of buying and playing records. Equally at home with leftfield, ambient and downtempo sessions he set up his own sporadic Reflective daytime events in 2018 in order to explore this side of his music collection further. As a radio DJ he has had regular slots and appearances on Rinse FM, NTS, Beats in Space and The Lot in New York playing a diverse and interesting range of music both inside and outside the club soundtrack. From running and playing at one of Glasgow’s best loved techno parties at the Sub Club in the mid 90’s bringing the likes of Surgeon, DJ Skull, and Joey Beltram to the city for the first time and early music released on Andrew Weatherall’s Emissions Audio Output and Jay Denham’s Black Nation label, he played regularly at the best loved venues across the city such as The Arches, The Art School, Tin Pan Alley and the legendary Club 69 in Paisley. Throughout the 1990’s, Scott went on to earn a well respected reputation as a club DJ and producer in a city with a rich musical heritage and a notoriously high bar for quality. After a break from the scene he moved to London in the late 2000’s, set up his studio at Rotters Golf Club and dived straight back into production, DJing and running parties. After a chance meeting with Joe Hart and Paul Purgas at Body Hammer he was invited to come on board as a resident and help run the party which he has now been doing for 7 of the 11 years that the club has been running. Now featuring just Scott & Joe as residents, it is widely regarded as one of London’s most diverse and fun monthly parties commanding a fiercely loyal, and inclusive crowd. They have most recently set up a label and released two records both of which have involved Scott on production duties with another two slated for release this year, very much in line with the clubs ethos they are all 100% dance-floor ready. In the studio as a solo artist he has produced and recorded under a number of aliases and styles, completed over 30 remixes and has been involved n a number of successful partnerships with other artists such as Daniel Avery, Richard Sen, Capracara and Willie Burns with more interesting collaborations to come in 2019. Kicking off this year with his Body Hammer 12” with Joe, a second record for Bird Scarer and a steady stream of new solo material coming throughout the year, he has no intention of slowing down. Label wise he has released and remixed on labels as diverse as Rush Hour, Wave, One Little Indian, Village Green, Bird Scarer and CGI Records along with his own labels, much more of which to come in 2019/ 20. Over the years he has shown his ability to keep a diverse array of dancefloors moving and has cemented his reputation as a world class international DJ by playing regularly at some of the best venues, festivals and parties across the world. From Drugstore and 20/44 in Belgrade to the Electric Pickle in Miami, The Good Room and Output in New York for The Bunker Parties, Mount Analog’s events in LA, Solar and Connor’s No way back in San Francisco, Animals Dancing in Melbourne, Renate Berlin, La Java Paris, BLOC, Gottwood, The Masked Ball, FARR, Field Maneuvers and EXIT Serbia along with Fabric, The Pickle Factory, Fold, UNIT B1, Mick’s Garage and Phonox all in his newly adopted home city of London.
