Biografía

SAMiR, a young Hip Hop & House DJ from South Africa The love of music began at a very young age. Being raised in a home where genres from jazz, R&B, reggae, hip hop, kwaito and dance hall were the order of the day, seemed like a good stepping stone for the young man as it groomed his taste in music. His passion for DJ"n though, began when he started playing around with the old family record player & family collection records that had been accumulated within the past couple of years. The Beatles, Barry White, NAS, Common, The Roots, Masters At Work, DJs At Work, The Rurals, Louie Vega, Mr. V, Candy Apple, Hugh Masekela, Rick James, Michael Jackson, Salt-N-Pepa, Queen, Boys 2 Men: all these are a few of the artists that he was influenced by and that generally built his music genre what it is today. He was hooked. He also had a moment where he took up piano lessons, and although he didn"t grow from that, he found time at a later stage to reconnect with his roots(now doing production as well as DJ'n). At 13, he was introduced to the night life when he went party hoping with his step-dad in the Mpumalanga regions. This opened the flood gates as in high school, he worked on getting his DJ skills "right". At this point, he was introduced to a range of DJ mediums as he spent his time either on the SL1200"s his friends had or on his personal computer experimenting with tracks on his Traktor DJ Studio 1(one of 3 people in his time that used the software well). He also started with his productions in this period of time and, although it has blown up BIG as such, the little projects he put out, were considered "proper" for their era. At the tender age of 16, he used his vocals at his church in Polokwane, not knowing that all those days listening to (the early) Metro FM would motivate him to further a career in radio. In 2007, his experience with the night life blew up when he moved from Polokwane to Pretoria, the Capital Of House Music, where he got to experience the different nightlife"s(from up-town clubs to local(Kasi) spots) from Hatfield, Mamelodi, Soshanguve, Mabopane, Centurion & Midrand(to name a few). He know currently resides in Pretoria (Tshwane, Gauteng, South Africa) and is a host on the hit show, Nocturnal Tribe(since 2009) and doesn"t seem to have any intentions of slowing down. Today, SAMiR has shared stages with the likes of DJ Kent, Rocco, Andy Compton, Black Coffee, DJ Dimplez, Vigilante, Voqul, Clone, Ludz, DV-Que & Culoe De Song to name a few
