Exploring her synesthetic experiences, Samantha Tiussi interweaves auditory and visual realms in her art practice. With a life-long passion for glass, influenced by her father's work during her childhood, and a deep relationship with the piano, she weaves these elements into her immersive sound-art installations. These dual passions manifest in her work, forming a unique intersection of sound and sight within her artistic oeuvre. Originally from Brazil and currently based in Berlin, she incorporates her diverse experiences into her art, reflecting a profound sense of personal identity in her creations. ​ Her work encapsulates a broad spectrum of explorations across the intersections of sound and visual art, challenging traditional disciplinary boundaries. Her sound art compositions, as much as her installations, prompt audiences to engage with their sensory perceptions, fostering an immersive and contemplative space. By pushing the envelope of sound objects, visual objects, and performance, Samantha's creations incite deep reflection on the nature of existence and encourage viewers to reconsider their perceptions of reality and the notion of otherness. ​ She incorporates technology into her installations to form an interactive and evolving artistic experience. With the use of technology, she creates a novel interface between the audience and the artwork. Samantha Tiussi has two ongoing projects: the "Creatures Project" and "Piano Glass." The "Creatures Project" explores a fusion of sound, visual arts, and technology, crafting humanoid figures she calls "creatures." These figures, born from the sound of glass, provoke a unique sensory experience. The "Piano Glass" project explores the potentialities of glass as a sound medium, and incorporates her two big passions. By replacing the piano strings for glass, she racks the piano, and follows John Cage’s steps.
