Sam Hoggard’s musical journey began early, influenced by disco and enriched by the jazz sounds she grew up around, thanks to her father, a big band drummer in the Yorkshire jazz scene. In the late 1990s, she discovered house music at Leeds’ Speedqueen at The Warehouse, igniting a passion that set her on the path to becoming a vinyl DJ. Over 20 years behind the decks, she has played at venues including Back2Basics, Distrikt Leeds, Imaginarium, 212 and on LDC Radio. Her selections draw on house music from the mid-90s through to early 2000s tech house and into the present day, centred on groove, swing and percussive detail. Sets are characterised by rolling low-end, jackin’ rhythms and subtle inflections of Latin and tribal influence. A committed vinyl selector, Sam places emphasis on digging and curation, balancing lesser-known material with established records. As part of the DAC label, founded by Scott Featherstone (TriForm), Sam is known for her regular back-to-back sets with Scott, where their individual styles come together seamlessly. Rooted in underground house, their sound is driven by bumpy grooves, tight percussion and rolling basslines — balancing Sam's swing-led, uplifting selections with TriForm’s deeper, rawer cuts.
