Saeleen Bouvar
Biografía
Saeleen Bouvar is the head, the heart and the body of the Salon Queertronique, a club series based in Hamburg, Germany, which highlights the music and the talent of TransDJs and contributes to the TransVisibility at the Decks.
Saeleen actually started a long, long time ago. Being influenced by greek folklore and belly dance music, she early discovered the joys and the pleasure of Disco and Chicago House.
After the exploitation of House Music in the late 90ies, she decided to explore the depths of Electronica. Back then, it was Kemistry & Storm and their way of mixing that absolutely caught her interest. That´s the way she wanted to mix, creating a perfect harmony between two tracks, thus resulting into something completely new and different.
Drum´n´Bass didn´t last too long, because after the hype went away, she soon discovered the delicacies of the Warp Label and soon became an IntelligentDanceMusic DJ.
Saeleen was a part of the newly upcoming queer underground movement of Hamburg, which began with the Kellerclub in the Rote Flora, where she actually had her first gig.
While being experimenting with IDM, she soon became a fan of the Electroclash movement, which was the soundtrack of queer Hamburg at that time. She soon got fed up of not being properly paid, working mostly all night and not really being able to find a way to transition into her real being, that she paused.
At that time, Saeleen started to discover the possibilites of digital DJing, producing mixtapes and sets for her own soundcloud account. First it was mostly like a videogame, then it became a medium to produce sets that highlight a certain atmosphere and are well put together so one could enjoy them for rather boring activities like cleaning up or cooking.
By conceptualising different style sets, she rediscovered all the musical material she collected for 23 years. That´s when she got booked again and where she could show all of her variety and skill during a live gig.
Due to her being a transgender woman and not being represented amongst the club culture, she created the Salon Queertronique, where she would highlight another TransDJ, all for the sake of the Transvisibility at the Decks.
After her gig on the Fusion Festival 2019, her Salon got hosted by the Kampnagel Theatre.
