Ryan Powderly
Biografía
Passionate about community-building in electronic music, Ryan Powderly has spent the past 15 years performing, teaching and creating platforms for the craft.
While moving from student to teacher at the Melbourne Conservatorium of Music, he has built a discography that includes releases with his band Retiree on Rhythm Section International, his Transit State moniker on CC:DISCO!’s First Light Vol 2, and Dance Mania-inspired club tools as Pelvis.
Pelvis began in 2011 as a monthly party in Sydney and has since grown into a wider celebration of dance music culture. Ryan is one of the heads behind the brand, which has expanded into clothing and the Pelvis Records label. Releases include D. Tiffany, Reptant, Purient, Lipelis, Secret Circuit, DJ Nozaki, Mall Grab, and a Roza Terenzi co-release with Klasse Wrecks.
Determined to widen access to production education, Ryan runs the electronic music school Big Racket and organises Ableton User Group Naarm, a bi-monthly meetup for music-makers at Arts Centre Melbourne.
His DJ sets are an ever-fresh archive of community-made music, paired with his own DIY lathe-cuts and functional dance tools, all thrown together with some of that pure Pelvis chaos.
