A respected producer in his own right, Harper’s productions are rich and varied. Harper’s 2022 LP, The Dark Album was named “beautiful” by Charlotte de Witte, Richie Hawtin hammered it in his sets worldwide and it made front page of Mixmag. 2023 welcomes The Dark Album Remixes, a vast collection of astounding reworks that are causing waves across the scene. Harper’s sets are littered with them. Meanwhile, Harper’s Ambient Girl series explores downtempo and has seen support from Cici, Lemonella and Ben Malone on Kiss FM. Harper is also founding father of City Wall Records, where his A&R skills have signed tracks played in numerous Boiler Room sets including SNTS at Kompass and Ancient Methods in Berlin. Harper holds weekly radio residency on London’s AAJA Music and also presents a monthly two hour slot showcasing new music under the title “House & Techno w/ Heart & Soul”. Harper’s roots are in the London 90s club, rave and techno scene where he heard seminal DJs and acts such as Jeff Mills, Carl Cox, Richie Hawtin, Laurent Garnier, Dave Clarke, Marshall Jefferson, Gayle San, Orbital Live, The Prodigy Live, The Advent Live, EZ, Grooverider and DJ Bone to name just a few. It was here in London, in the 90s that Harper’s love of music led him to start on his personal journey as an event promoter but slowly he let everything go in order to bury himself in music production. After 5 years of study Harper emerged in 2008 and established his label, City Wall Records, as a digital platform to release his own music. After meeting some limited success, including support from Laurent Garner, Harper decided being too close to “the scene” was damaging his own sense of musical self, so he turned ‘inward’ between 2013 and 2020, taking this special time to solely focus on developing his own identity and unique sound. In 2020 Harper re-emerged with the Ambient Girl album which was dubbed as “strong contender for electronic album of the year”.
