Rising from a schizophrenically wide musical and artistic background, Philipp Merkelbach (co-founder of the infamous hot cheese crew collective) has performed alongside acts such as LCD Soundsystem, Die Antwoord, Theophilius London and Gold Panda just to name a few. He ran a successful party series and a residency in Kassel’s (GER) very own A.R.M. Club until 2014. He invited and shared the stage with DJs like Max Graef, Ame, Boy 8 Bit or DOP. As an multidisciplinary artist and musiclover, for him, the essence of recorded sound is the amount of memories, information and emotion you can store in a single track and send it through time and space. To let someone else experience these memories, information and emotion in the most precise way is paramount. From this point of view there are no genre boundaries and the person behind the decks is no longer important, which is why Philipp frequently changes his aliases. His DJ sets have to be looked at as a peek into a possible life, encrypted into an abstract formula, made out of sound. His sounddesign, productions and live performances have been featured at documenta14, Museum Fridericiuanum or Staatstheater Kassel.
