Biografía
Classically trained as a ballerina (hence the name Rina), this New Yorker's inherent passion for rhythm, movement, aural and visual expression began at an early age. Raised on a heavy dose of classic and contemporary rock, Rina’s own musical preferences gradually evolved to incorporate dance music when her older brother bought two turntables and started DJing at clubs like Limelight and Twilo.
When Rina’s dreams of becoming a ballerina were shattered due to injury, her passion for dance music and nightlife culture intensified. Frequenting clubs and afterhours venues in Brooklyn elevated her love for underground sounds and she finally decided to teach herself how to spin.
Although her DJ career is still in its nascent stages, Rina has already played at well-established venues such as Cielo, TBA Brooklyn, the303, Bushwick A/V, and the closing parties of Pacha NYC. Her ability to play a diverse gamut of genres – from Detroit techno to minimal tech to Chicago classic house and her favorite genre, acid house – makes her an in-demand artist. With a deep understanding and respect for the cultural roots of house music, Rina delights in selecting tracks by producers that not many have heard of and in keeping the dance floor on its feet.
