Raphael Kromhout, known as Rakom, is a young techno DJ and producer from Bochum, Germany, born in 2005. Despite being early in his career, Rakom has already begun to establish himself within the techno scene. Rakom’s musical journey began at a young age, starting with drumming at 7 years old, which helped him build a solid foundation in rhythm. By the age of 11, he started practicing on turntables, and shortly after, he made his first club appearance, marking the beginning of his involvement in the electronic music scene. In 2022, Rakom took a further step by launching his own label, Rakords. Through the label, he has released his own tracks, which have received positive feedback from several techno artists, including Takaaki Itoh, Benjamin Damage, Altinbas, and Kwartz. These releases have helped him gain recognition within the scene, particularly for his straightforward, driving techno sound. Rakom draws influence from a range of techno artists, including Reeko, Judas, Mike Parker, Kwartz, and Developer. His music typically combines deep, hypnotic grooves with atmospheric elements, remaining grounded in the underground traditions of techno while exploring some experimental sounds. Over time, Rakom has caught the attention of established figures in the techno world, such as The Advent, Alexander Kowalski, Ritzi Lee, Oliver Rosemann, and Regis. These connections indicate that he is gradually gaining respect from those with more experience in the genre. As Rakom continues to refine his skills both in the studio and as a DJ, he remains focused on developing his sound and expanding his presence within the scene, steadily progressing in his career without rushing the process.
