Queen Paramount
Biografía
Queen Paramount is a DJ and graphic designer from Toulouse whose practice is deeply rooted in the legacy of UK rave culture and the hardcore continuum. Drawing from bass music traditions such as dubstep, jungle, and drum’n’bass, she constructs sets that move fluidly between dancefloor intensity and experimental, post-club sound design.
Influenced by cultural theory, particularly the writings of Mark Fisher and Simon Reynolds, she engages with questions around alternative and mainstream cultures, often blurring the boundaries between them within contemporary club contexts. Their sets reflect an understanding of bass music not as a niche, but as a dominant and evolving force within global club culture.
She performs in a variety of contexts, from intimate venues such as Le Sample in Paris to larger stages like Le Bikini in Toulouse, adapting their approach to each environment while maintaining a strong narrative and emotional continuity.
Their practice also integrates field recordings, personal sonic archives, and live sampling processes, which she manipulates and reworks in real time. These elements allow their performances to remain open, adaptive, and responsive to space and audience.
Across their work, Queen Paramount combines musical research, cultural theory, and poetic intuition—anchored in a desire to dig, dance, and discover, with only poetry and computer time as essential tools.
