Dj Q (Q Davidson) was born in Milwaukee, WI. He grew up listening to hip-hop, funk, soul, jazz, and Chicago house music. In the summer of 1994, he was taken to clubs and several underground parties in Chicago by DJ Acid Man Al and DJ Chip to experience the underground Chicago house scene, where he met Derrick Carter; and from there he knew what he wanted to do. He saved his money buying two Gemini turntables and a Radio Shack mix board and started djing. In the winter of 1994 La Crosse, WI he got his first gig at downtown night club called “A New Beginning”, where he played hip-hop and reggae. He also held radio show playing jazz for WLSU 88.9FM. He later gained residencies at Pearl Street Pub and Yesterdays (alternative rock bars) playing all forms of electronic music. He moved to Caen, France in 1997 where he met DJ Fred-h., and DJ Bryan Agent-Poive and formed bonds which gave him opportunities to spin House music in several clubs such as Fariente and 37°2. He returned back to the States and continued to hone his skills. In 2000 he travel through Russia djing House, Techno and Progressive Trance in Moscow, Novosibirsk, Tomsk, Barnaul, and other Russian cities. He later returned to Milwaukee in 2001 and became a part of the underground music scene djing in clubs and raves. Playing with the likes of Jesse Saunders, John Hawley, Gene Hunt, Gene Farris, Fortune, Lukewarm, Kleinbeck, and (the late) Rock Dee. He moved to San Francisco in 2004 and inched his way in to their underground music scene holding several residencies at Vertigo Bar, Blur, Azul, The Matrix, Anú, and Savannah Jazz Club playing with like of Black Stone, Nic Horton, David Harness, Lenard O’Campo, Dedan, Rahiem Jihad, Amid, Chepito Areas and (Areas Brothers) and many others. DJ Q resides in Austin, Texas partnering with Jaime Le'Mier of Full House Digital Recordings. Spreading his love of house music to the people of Texas.
