Prince Pasensi, a DJ/Producer based in Amsterdam Southeast of Surinamese descent, creates a sound that blends his heritage with electronic music. Drawing inspiration from origin stories of styles such as Baile Funk, Batida, Techno, Highlife, and House, Prince P. aims to bless the dancefloor with a variety of rhythms that have not been heard before in the club. Growing up in Amsterdam Southeast, the most culturally diverse part of the city, Prince Pasensi was constantly surrounded by music from Ghana, the Dominican Republic, Suriname, Curacao, India and the States, to name a few. His interest in making music started in high school when he joined a percussion band. Later on, after banging on seats and windows of the subway, he formed a Kawina band with his friends. Learning the rhythms and instruments pre internet boom. This gave him the chance to delve deeply into the culture and process of forming a band and the synergy behind it. Post-pandemic, Prince Pasensi took it upon himself to create and spin electronic dance and club music infused with Kawina and Kaseko, which immediately connected with the people. Coining the new style "KRIXYO" as a homage to the people who were at the root of music preserved by enslaved Africans in Suriname and all over the diaspora. 🦋
