Prince of Deptford If there was a Prince, he’d rule his glorious kingdom from The Birds Nest pub, drinking cans outside with his subjects before retiring to his Royal Barge on the Great Surrey Canal. But as it is, Prince of Deptford (who is not the Prince of Deptford, keeping up?) currently lives in Berlin, a city that doesn't hate anyone out after 10pm. PoD, aka Daniel Cherney, triangulates the dots between his former South-East London home, his current Germanic residence, and East London party central (global pandemic permitting) Dalston, where he co-runs the night @happyendingsparty – which also has an accompanying radio show. Inside this scalene triangle of geo-musical influence is a swirl of minimalist techno, acid electronics, vocodered Italo and industrial broken beats. And at its centroid is Unsustainable, Cherney’s label born in 2020 to provide a home for like-minded artists, as well as his own music, previously released on labels squareglass, SonicMoiré, Homodrop, Blaq and Verlag.
