Gran Canaria may not be renowned for its electronic music scene, but one man looking to change all that is Prakash. Like many before him, he migrated to the UK for university in his late teens, a move that would ultimately have a profound effect both on his life and his musical outlook. While there, he quickly immersed himself in the city’s scene, with clubs such as Fabric proving an especially fertile stomping ground. Inspired by residents Craig Richards and Terry Francis, and guest djs such as Steve Bug, Tiefschwarz or Ricardo Villalobos, it was at Fabric where he realized he needed to share his musical taste, with the resident djs proving the catalyst for an unrelenting obsession with house and techno. Throwing himself into the sound, Prakash taught himself how to mix, collecting obscure gems and secret weapons aplenty, with all manners of house (from deep, tech, Chicago, Detroit to acid and beyond) a factor in his unpredictable DJ sets. His unique track selection has led to him delivering his sound to audiences in Paris, London, Berlin, Zagreb, Vienna, Riga, Madrid and his native Gran Canaria, where he has also acted as promoter holding events "Deep Fridays" and "Unpopular", giving opportunities to unknown skilled djs from his island. As tends to be the case after years behind the decks, Prakash soon had a yearning to get his handy dirty in the studio, getting signed to a host of forward-thinking labels Red Ember Records, Household Records or Forward Education, and even starting his own vinyl label Travellin Music, hosting his unique perspective on deep and tech house gaining support from djs such as Laurent Garnier, John Digweed, Jimpster, Luciano, Stacey Pullen, Paco Osuna or Colin Dale to name a few. With further releases planned for the next while, Mr. P has really begun to hit his stride.
