South London based Producer ‘Portamento’, is the Electronic music project of musician and visual artist Mathew Lomas. Portamento’s use of analogue drum machines & Synths, against sampled Motown and Northern Soul beats form an impressionistic approach to the House genre. Influenced by the abstract and exploratory approaches to the House genre, Portamento's ASMR vocal style helps straddle the music somewhere between intimate Psych-rock influenced music, and typical Dance music. Since his first release ‘Neon Lover’ in 2017, Portamento has released E.Ps and singles on Open bar music, Dialtone records, Coldwave records and Azucar, with support from She Drew the Gun, Marco Carola, Richy Ahmed, Be Svendsen and more. 2021 saw the release of BBC introducing and 6 Music fave - ‘Reaching Out (For a Friend)’, a 7 minute Psychedelic Dance track for the lockdown generation. Portamento is a regular DJ and live performer. His one man band, hardware-only approach to the scene is a ‘refreshing take on the Dance/Electronic music genre.’
