PIX.L (b. 1988) is Martim Santos, DJ and founder of the Counterpoint project. Inspired by his friends, but mostly his brother, he took a leap into the sonic vortex of the "Amen Break", sparkling an unquestionable passion for immersing himself in music. His wide variety of influences (Hip-Hop, Rock, Soul, Classical, Jazz, among others), result in an eclectic approach to the deeper sounds of Drum & Bass which are carefully crafted, according to dancefloor vibes, and with the audience as main concern. Since he started being directly involved with this music, he gradually found new ways of working it. His 10 years behind the decks have enabled him to build a track record which include gigs in Switzerland, Finland, Spain, Czech Republic and all over Portugal, where he had the chance to share the cabin with some of the main tastemakers within the genre, and also some of the most influential Portuguese artists. In 2010 he was distinguished at the Backstage DNB Awards, winning the Best Upcoming DJ category. His insatiable quest for evolution led him a step forward, and it was when he founded Counterpoint Recordings that he found his natural habitat. Working with artists on the development and promotion of music releases, allows for a crucial creative output through which he manages to carefully curate the label’s catalogue, and the whole concept behind the project. Today he is only one part of the Counterpoint engine, which works daily to make the brand a growing worldwide reference when it comes to deep and underground Drum & Bass.
