Paul Raffaele's track record plainly shows his devotion to the long tradition of dance music in New York City. A native son who came of age caught between the early '00s soulful scene and the tail end of the New York ‘megaclubs,’ Paul's musical tastes run wide, appropriate for someone who grew up taking full advantage of city's musical riches. This sensibility, grounded in the dance floor and Paul's house and disco roots, is evident in the releases on his Most Excellent Unlimited Records, founded in 2013, which run the gamut from techno to house to eclectic selections from the edit vaults of Danny Krivit. Krivit, a mentor, regularly enlists Paul to join him on the decks at the renowned 718 Sessions, a testament to Paul's enthusiasm and deep love of music, the same qualities that inspired his much-missed Dog & Pony Show club night (09-12). His sharp ear brought a top notch selection of dance masters to New York, from Alexander Robotnick to DJ Rolando, DJ Garth, Omar-S and dozens more. Today he divides his time between his record label, lugging his records around town, and his latest labor of love, a charmingly down-to-earth mash note to the city's underground dance scene authored by some of its most notable figures. Love Injection, a free physical fanzine published monthly since the start of 2015, has rapidly become a must-read and, like Raffaele, its creator and art director, a true-school part of the fabric of the ongoing, evolving dance music community in NYC and worldwide. Today, Love Injection goes beyond just print – it’s been exhibited at White Columns (New York's oldest alternative art space) and is also weekly show on The Lot Radio which he co-hosts with his partner Barbie Bertisch broadcasting every Saturday Morning at 10am EST from a reclaimed shipping container in Greenpoint, Brooklyn. The two also produce the New York Chapter of the Classic Album Sundays communal listening sessions founded by renowned audiophile Colleen ‘Cosmo’ Murphy.
