Brian Patty is a DJ and writer from Chicago. A psychedelic rock fan in his youth, Patty discovered techno by diving backward in time through the sounds of Basic Channel and Monolake; he now operates in the future with inspiration from the deepest shades of experimental electronics. As a DJ, Patty attempts to build an endless series of cinematic and romantic moments with a vinyl addiction fed by dark, hypnotic grooves. Patty has occasionally played records at Chicago venues like Smart Bar, Primary and the sadly departed Morseland, and has also taken over the airwaves at WLUW and WNUR. As a writer, Patty is among other things the author of the smilecoldanatomy music blog and the curator of the blog's anatomy mix series, which is an ongoing showcase of personal, abstract music statements from artists around the world.
