Papi Weli was raised in a community where Baile Funk, Pagode, and Samba can be heard all day at every corner. This helped shape his DJ career which started in 2014. He has been heard on many stages in New York such as Apollo Theater, Baby's All Right, Bossa Nova, Brooklyn Monarch, Chocolate Factory, Elsewhere, Kinfolk, SOB's, Sonny Hall, The Sultan Room, Trans-Pecos, and more. He has also played in cities including São Paulo, Boston, Philadelphia, San Francisco and D.C. In addition to his large knowledge of Baile Funk culture, Papi Weli is not afraid of mixing different music genres and featuring newly released music during his sets. He is always focused on lifting up the energy on the dance floor. Outside of the booth, he has also modeled for brands such as Adidas, Willy Chavarria, and Materiel Supply. He has also starred in campaigns for Major League Soccer, Red Bull New York and Goma Studios. Papi Weli is also the heart behind the creative production of Foreign Posse, a crew formed by immigrants and first generation Americans.
