He's a violinist, composer, producer and also employs a wide array of instruments whose names are pretty much unpronounceable for non-experts; however, Pajwan is a musical expert. He started out playing the violin, progressed to piano and ended up specializing in Iranian instruments which are quite well-tempered, one of the main characteristics of his distinct productions. Having said that, the main focus is his beloved violin, used and abused not only for his own good, but also for the sake of other artists’ music both in the studio, as well as, in a live setting. Performing and playing live is his way of expression, yet composing reveals the true soul of the man known as Paji – the man who never gets tired of writing and creating new music. It was quite a sound decision for Paji to move from Aachen, Germany to Berlin in 2018 and to create an electronic music-based album for the Berlin-based label Katermukke. Berlin is a place where cheerfulness and madness can be found side by side. An inspiring tension in which one immerses only to retreat hours later, inspired to create. Paji himself uses the expression „beyond borders“ to describe the results of this creative process. Here, the ice between East and West has melted over the years and the city has become the heart of culture, art, and creativity; filled with energy that rarely sleeps. Paji's very first EP was released in 2013. Despite him being fascinated and intrigued by composers like Bach, as well as, Kurdish folklore, he readily incorporated synthesizers and contemporary sound effects into his own music. Or better, they turned his own musical world upside down and created a trademark sound defining Paji's musical approach – a well-balanced amalgamation of classic, real life instruments and synth- or DAW-generated electronic sounds. This sonic concept has proven to work well – both in the studio setting as well as, live on stage no matter if the context is a seated concert in a sold out church, or an underground warehouse rave somewhere in Amsterdam. The club and nightlife world has opened its doors for Paji's unique style and approach – and Paji has opened his inner doors for influences to take in from the world of clubs. Who would've thought when he, aged five, laid hand on his violin for the very first time?
