ona:v is a Polish-born DJ, producer and promoter with an ear for hypnotic techno and emotive electro. A scientist by day and a DJ by night, the Edinburgh-based artist is an integral figure in her locale, both as a standalone name and through her EPiKA event series and platform. Having honed her mixing skills and built an extensive track collection for several years, ona:v debuted on Edinburgh’s club circuit in 2019, where she remains an active part of the scene today. With a sound that spans fast yet groovy techno, ona:v channels older and lesser-known tracks throughout her DJ sets. As an advocate for equal representation in the electronic music industry, ona:v believes platforming is the best way to increase the proportion of female and non-binary artists and features their tracks in her sets. Bookings across the UK make up ona:v’s diary. In 2021, she closed for Clouds and Randomer at The Cause and soundtracked Café1001 in London. Multiple gigs in Glasgow, Aberdeen The Tunnels, Edinburgh and Liverpool have also cropped up in her evolving schedule. In 2021 and 2022, she streamed from Berlin’s HÖR Radio. Back on home turf, ona:v played for local parties, including Overground, Resist, ADSR, and Tension. More recently, she headlined the basement stage curated by Sisu at Hidden Doors — a prolific visual art and music festival in Edinburgh — and performed at the Terminal V Festival. In 2020, ona:v founded EPiKA. Geared toward supporting Scottish female and non-binary artists from the heavier sides of electro and techno, she promotes EPiKA’s bi-monthly party called CiRCLE at The Mash House. Here, she creates a nurturing environment for beginner female and non-binary DJs. She also runs a meetup page for artists and punters alike, where they can join ona:v and her friends at various club nights. ona:v garners a radio residency on Threads, and is an internal member and a resident DJ with the Sisu crew. Production-wise, ona:v has released her debut EP on Diffuse Reality Records in late 2022, with tracks coming out also on labels like Pollination UK, Let’s Techno and Paradise Palms Records, With plenty more in the pipeline, no doubt we will hear more about her later this year!
