Nik first started working for records labels in the mid 1990's. After a 5 year stint at Universal/Island he did a further year at Verve/Impulse/Universal Jazz before starting his own Music PR company in 2001 promoting nu jazz and broken beat labels. He subsequently did A & R for Counterpoint Records and then Exceptional Records and compiled many cd/vinyl music compilations for other labels from USA,Europe and Japan.In 2006 he launched a strictly vinyl only,singles only record label Mukatsuku Records which celebrated 10 years of releases in 2016 crossing the genres of funk,soul,disco,afrobeat and jazz etc. Mukatsuku mixcloud page has over 40,000 followers. As a DJ over the years he has completed over 20 tours of Japan plus gigs in Kazakhstan,Canada,Russia,Australia,Singapore and extensively in Europe.
