New Dad (Houston, TX) After spending the past decade DJing – both as a founding resident of Boston's long running queer tea dance (((GROUP HUG)))) and lately digging into Texas's rich underground terrain – Michael Andor Brodeur's most recent turn as New Dad finds him putting his own spin on the chunky, soulful house and dark techno textures he specialized in from the booth. His lush, wandering live sets have become fast favorites around Austin's tighter-quartered parties, swinging between stretches of cruisy techno and frisky acid, dipping into surprising pop detours and reliably blooming into love-fueled floor-fillers that blur the hours together and feel as suited to the basement as the bathhouse. He kicks off an East coast tour in March 2019 marking the release of his first full-length, Former Eagle (Wrong Whole).
