neko.ea
Biografía
neko.ea is a Naarm based, Indonesian-born/raised multi-disciplinary artist whose work flirts with abstraction and beauty, merging Indonesia’s rich cultural heritage with atonal soundscapes. A reverence for the unseen is found throughout her work, creating space for bold experimentation and the rhythmic echo of ancestral resonance.
Previously trained as an Architect, Neko’s practice retains a core focus on spatial audio relationships and form. Her 2015 Master’s dissertation, “An Architectural Spine for 18 Musicians”, was the first of many ambitious installations, including a live sound, light, and space performance at Perth Concert Hall under the alias N/K, and installation "medium.format" in Perth's Hyde Park, which saw ambient soundscapes emanate from within an inflatable structure.
Released in collaboration with CTP through Ethereal Distribution, her EP "Wujud/Lenyap” weaves Southeast Asian textures and spoken word with techno rhythms. The EP explores the themes of transformation and the cyclical nature of existence, where endings birth beginnings and destruction becomes a catalyst for creation.
By pushing sonic boundaries, neko.ea continues to establish herself as a distinctive voice, curator, and producer in the experimental electronic music scene both locally and internationally.
