Raised in the Greater Toronto Area by oldskool ravers, Estella (Lala) GothicFish was emerged into the alternative dance music scene from the get-go. Her mother influenced her taste in Drum & Bass, Jungle, Electro, and also rock genres such as grunge and metal. In her teens, Lala got more independently involved in the local hardcore punk and underground music scene of Toronto, where she'd discover her love for moshpits and manic crowds. As Lala got older, she became more attracted to 2 polar opposite styles: Goth and Happy Hardcore, this broadened her taste and gave way to Lala's distinctiveness for ambitious mixing and genre-bending crossovers. All this collectively has formed an extremely widespread collection of sound that remains unique, inspiring, and decadently open-minded. Although still relatively new to the scene as a DJ, Ms.GothicFish has made quick waves, with regular rotation at goth clubs, making appearances at plenty of raves, and also recently playing a sold-out show at the iconic Opera House venue in Toronto. She also runs her own events production company, Estella Originals, which specializes in the curation of dance events and markets catered to a diverse audience of alternative local youth. Behind the name 'Ms.GothicFish': While attending secondary education at Etobicoke School of the Arts, Lala created a colourful large-scale painting of a trippy, gory, and Tim Burton-esque mixed-breed fish, which she dubbed 'Mr.GothicFish'. She became so infatuated with said painting, and Mr.GothicFish as a character, that she opted to make her artist name 'Ms.GothicFish', marrying the artist to her art.
