Movement81 are Swansea-based electronic duo Jason&Becky. Developing from both 80s & 90s influences, their electronic music & live A/V performances meander between uplifting dance & pensive minimal techno, blending resampled audio & visuals with new & original material. Practicing fine artists and philosophical researchers, Jason&Becky's compositions often connect with the wider themes of their art practice, realised through immersive, interactive audio-visual installations. Movement81's recent gigs include support for Plaid at Clwb Ifor Bach in June ‘23 and Max Cooper at Tramshed, Cardiff, in October ‘23 as part of his 3D/AV tour. Their latest EP 'Gift', is their second release under independent label Petite Victory Collective, a decentralised collective exploring the intersection of electronic music and art through interdisciplinary creative collaborations. The duo are currently working on their debut album and live A/V set, 'If Infinity,' set to be released on Petite Victory Collective in April 2025. The project explores the personal, societal, and ethical implications of recent advancements in quantum technology, with visuals integral to expressing these themes. To promote the album, the duo will embark on an upcoming tour in May/June 2025, with dates in London, Brighton, Bristol, Cardiff, Carmarthen, and their hometown of Swansea. A typical track is recorded live and in one take using Eurorack Modular, AKAI MPC Live and Ableton. When not producing electronic music, Jason&Becky are practicing fine artists who create immersive and participatory audio-visual installation-based work. They were nominated for the Arts Foundation Futures Award for Digital Art in 2022 by contemporary artist Haroon Mirza, best known for his sculptural installations which generate audio compositions.
