MOTHER CELL was founded in the Fall of 2019 in NYC. Influenced by music such as M.I.A., SOPHIE, Emily Montes, Felix da Housecat, Fischerspooner, Michael Stipe, Ultravox, Crystal Castles, Atari Teenage Riot, and Arca, each member has also been involved in political organizing in various capacities, ranging from political organizing in art spaces, to documenting protests, to organizing to fight foreclosures. These experiences within organizing spaces have influenced their positions on politics and identity, inevitably helping to shape the band as well.
