MMXXI (pronounced "Mixie") is a DJ and producer located in Toronto. A hardcore raver back in the 90s in Toronto, underage and under the influence, she was a speaker dancer who managed to retain most of her hearing. At these dark, anonymous warehouse raves, she found jungle and drum and bass. Growing up in Scarborough, she was heavily influenced by Caribbean culture and music. At raves, she heard dancehall songs she grew up with chopped and bassified into ragga jungle. It was bliss. As she got older, grunge, punk, metal and other genres seeped into her lifelong love of music. MMXXI represents the year she started to DJ (2021). She prides herself on having an ear as a selector. She will only play a track if she can dance to it. Her DJ style is a blend of jungle, drum and bass, and some hard beats peppered in. She's known for her high-energy sets that keep the crowd moving. Always open to gigs, she particularly favours renegade, all-ages (gotta fuel the next generation!) and PLURR-focused events that promote peace, love, unity, respect, and responsibility over anything else.
