Growing up in a village in Noord-Brabant. Journeying from old school hiphop parties in Tilburg, to techno raves in Amsterdam and bands in Eindhoven, Mila Black came a long way to embodying her signature sound of today. She has collected a lot of music through the years but the sound she is following now was only created when she went to live in Lisbon for 2 years. When Mila lived there she ended up at the most raucous raves, going to nightclubs such as LUX to see big DJs until early in the morning. Mila was very inspired by the exploration of freedom in Lisbon and after years of collecting music, that is when she bought her first usb. “I like to create balanced uptempo sets with all the different gems I have found. Lately I’ve been hugely impressed with techno music: I love the deep hypnotic tones combined with a fast-paced stride with an upbeat upper layer that pulls you forward. I strive to further experiment with techno and keep developing my identity as an artist.” Mila loves the rawness of expressing yourself in nightlife, she sees it as a piece of everyone's identity. A big fan of grungy and raw techno sounds, explosive rave yet rich in atmosphere and full of hypnotic undertones and funky tones - the intimate feeling of an overly hot smaller space and people dancing to the sound entering through their bodies. Like a story, Mila takes people to different heights with her sets, aiming to attract or delight them. As if by magic, she makes people feel like they are somewhere else. Her first sets were played at Operator Radio and since then she has frequented Weelde, Poing, WORM, MONO, BIT Club in Rotterdam, The Grey Space in the Middle, PIP in The Hague, Spuistreet Records and Lofi in Amsterdam. Last summer she played almost every weekend at several clubs and festivals, most notably Spielraum Amsterdam, Blijdorp Festival in Rotterdam, Kopjek in Groningen and Dekmantel. Mila is excited to dive deeper and deeper into this continuously moving world of music to create balanced sets with pearls she has found, to take you on a journey of discovery. We can only assume you'll see and hear a lot more from her in the years to follow.
